Night Train
Train whistle nocturne
Soars through the evening air, a
Distant lullaby.

Your Voice
Your voice, my anchor;
Even the brash, galling winds
Can’t drown out your song.

Apartment Sounds
Upstairs a girl
Practices the piano.
Downstairs, spouses feud.

Alarm Clock
Bull-dozer morning:
Summer sounds of progress jolt
Me from fitful sleep.

Child’s Play
A child plays guitar ~
A brash, discordant pealing.
He delights; I split.

Close In
Apartment window ~
Muffle the sounds of progress;
Encase me in sleep.
